1) Golden Milk Recipe
An evening drink fit for kings and queens.
Used to impart color and flavor to everything from traditional Indian curries to ballpark mustard, this deep-orange herb’s many health benefits are well documented. Drinkers of Golden Milk can also reap the benefits of ginger, a natural anti-inflammatory that can help relieve symptoms of arthritis, bursitis and other musculoskeletal ailments. Additionally, Golden Milk is flavored by black pepper, whose sharp taste comes from the alkaloid piperine, which enhances the absorption and the anti-inflammatory effects of turmeric. Plus, black pepper contains a number of essential nutrients, including manganese, iron and vitamin K, and is commonly used to calm digestive issues.
Instructions:
Heat 2 cups light, unsweetened coconut milk (or almond or soymilk)
Add 1/2 tablespoon peeled, grated fresh ginger
Add 1 tablespoon peeled, grated fresh turmeric
Add 3-4 black peppercorns
Add 3 crushed cardamoms
Add a stick of cinnamon
Heat all ingredients in a saucepan under low fire
Stir well
Bring to a simmer and simmer covered for 10- 15 minutes.
Strain and sweeten with honey of coconut flower nectar to taste (if desired).
2) The Ever Famous "Green Juice"
Skip the juice line at your local store and make this rockstar green juice at home. It’s a “super greens” recipe filled with antioxidant powers from celery, spinach, cucumber, and ginger. And surprisingly, it’s not at all bitter thanks to a splash of apple juice. It’s a delight to drink.
Ingredients:
Spinach – use tender baby spinach leaves
Celery – contributes both fiber and a subtle saltiness to the juice
Cucumber – mild in flavor, it serves as this juice blend’s major source of liquid
Fresh Ginger – adds a spicy zing and brightness
Lime Juice – provides a bright and tart note
Apples – the sweetness balances the vegetable flavors
Instructions :
Wash your ingredients really well (no need to dry) and chop them, skin and all, into 2-inch chunks.
Toss your cucumber and celery into a high-powered blender and blend until smooth.
Add your remaining ingredients and blend until smooth, about 3 minutes.
Strain the liquid through a fine-mesh strainer, pressing on the solids with the back of a spoon to extract as much juice as possible. You can also use a nut milk bag.
Chill until nice and cold, pour into a glass and enjoy!
